Plant A Tree
Scot-Petshop became a member of The Green Organisation early last year. The Green Organisation was established in 1994 as an international, independent, non-profit, non-political, environment group which is dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.
It’s two main activities are Membership, helping companies that help the environment and their International Green Apple Environment Awards:
With our Green Organisation membership they plant a number of trees every month on our behalf. To date we have has 172 trees planted and we are dedicated to remaining members and having many more trees planted.
A few reasons why planting tress can make a difference
Trees produce oxygen, something all animals, humans and organisms depend on to live.
Through photosynthesis the oxygen produced helps improve air quality.
Trees store carbon, offsetting harmful byproducts of fossil-fuel burning.
They moderate the effects of wind and sun, they also help clean our air by trapping dust, pollen and other pollutants.
They provide wildlife like squirrels, bugs and birds with food and shelter.
Trees can feed us too – You can grow your own fruit or nuts in your garden. By planting your own fruit or nut trees you can produce fresh food for yourself and your family.
Can save energy when strategically planted by blocking out wind and creating shade. Helping to reduce the need for heating in the winter, and the need for cooling in the summer (not that the cooling element is required much in the UK)
and one more for now.
Trees are beautiful no matter what the season, trees tell a story in their trunks, their leaves and branches they have a history and a future. Trees give hope, they can bring nature into the most unlikely of places. Children living in cities with planted trees and urban forests can learn about nature by observation and interaction.
Without trees where would we be?
Plant a tree, its one of the simplest yet rewarding things we can do.
We will keep you updated throughout the year on our tree planting activity.
